Sen. Keiser

Sponsored by Sen. Keiser, SCR 8401 establishes a joint select committee on health care oversight that is directed to provide oversight between the health care authority, health benefit exchange, the office of the insurance commissioner, the department of health, and the department of social and health services.  The goal of the committee is to ensure that these entities do not duplicate their efforts and that they work toward a goal of increased quality of services which will lead to reduced costs to the health care consumer.  Additionally, the committee must coordinate with the research and data analysis division of DSHS to monitor health care cost trends.

Substitute bill:  As amended, SCR 8401 states that in addition to providing policy recommendations to the Health  Care Committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives, the Committee must provide budget recommendations to the Ways and Means Committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
